A Friend to Trust by Lee Tobin McClain
Genre: Christian Romance, Inspirational Romance, Contemporary Romance
Location: Colorado
Romance: Very clean. Light kissing.
Faith: Light references to Christian practices. Main character is a pastor.
Lee Tobin McClain delivers an engaging, sweet romance set at a summer camp for troubled teens. McClain weaves an intriguing backstory for Hailey Harris. A true example of a life changed by Christ.
I loved the way McClain started Hailey and Nate’s story. They were part of the same circle of friends—friends that thought they would be a perfect match. Yet, their own weaknesses and insecurities kept them from being open to romance.
McClain introduced a secret about Hailey that Nate learned only because of his position as a pastor. This secret was a wonderful plot twist that will delight readers. I enjoyed the way the author kept this going and resolved it at just the right time.
I am a dog-lover (have two of my own fur-babies), so including an emotional support dog for a pivotal minor character, one of the campers, became one of my favorite parts of the story.
I would strongly recommend this book for fans of clean, sweet, Christian romance. This story has plenty of interesting tropes and twists. Bravo for writing about a single pastor too!
